'The real me'

This short poem is written, as a psychiatrist, on behalf of all children who have been traumatised by the evils of this world eg victims of abuse, whether sexual, physical or emotional. Their 'real me' has disappeared, stolen by the actions of others.

The 'real me'

I shall never be the same again

My eyesight not so clear

My hearing lessened on both sides

Though I escape more fear

I shall never have the strength I had

The resilience in my heart

To combat whatever I must face

Now I have lost a part

My life will not be diminished

On a different road I'll walk

In isolation, if I don't meet

Someone to whom I'll talk

I know not, I care even less

What fate I now await

No one will see the real me

For that, they are too late

This will be a poem in another book - some are written, some are not.

Sad, but all too real, I did not have such a wonderful childhood myself.
