I
Breakers on my castle walls
From a raging salted sea
Stained glass memories
Crack and crumble
In a crisp, cold breeze
From these cliffs
Where our love has dwelled
We danced in garden paths
I and my darling sweet blue
Kissed the air with a hearty stare
Lay our heads shoulder to shoulder
Walked hand in hand, the island groves
The sea was our destiny
And bathed in passion’s infamy.
II
Her memory haunts me still
Who hath known of my mind's weakness
She sailed to Islamorada
Then sailed the Arctic mains
Rolled with tides in the morning mist
While breakers broke their silence
With their ancient thunderous crash
I rolled upon the angered seas
Sank to the brine, walked the shores
A thousand days.
Through stained glass sunshine came
With mosaic ghosts
Who talked with me of her plights
My love had wondered lone, sea to sea
III
Looking for her sunshine
Someday she would return
At times I heard breakers
Mourn of love's loss
Hate had filled my heart with scorn
I did not believe a god would wrought
Sorrow with such a bitter strain
A sickness with a malaise refrain
I’d see the morning sunrise, upon a crystal sea
Know she would find her heart again
Then return to me
Breakers rumble on my castle walls
After years of sorrow and years of rain
We walk again in passion's infamy.
