Open Your Eyes

by Michael Charles Messineo — Read all 96 poems by Michael Charles Messineo

For those who search for the perfect place or the best experience, and then tear it down for reasons unknown and find fault. You are looking for happiness in the wrong places, as beauty and joy are all around you in its most simplest form. Open your eyes and see...

Poem Artwork

There is a time, a place, event,

that makes you just go WOW.

You search for just the perfect spot

to reach, but don’t know how.

The journey there, starts long ago

with dreams you had at nine.

Each step in life, all toward that goal

aligns with fate and time.

For when you arrive, at that place

you stop and admire the scheme.

The trouble starts as you review,

it’s not your perfect dream.

Instead of taking all its worth

you choose to find what’s wrong.

Oh what a shame, your life is blind,

neglecting nature’s songs.

Another great write Michael! Too many of us look at the specks in life instead of the big pictures staring us in the face; as a result, much of life slips by us, and that's a pity! Thanks for the reminder, and continued success.

beautiful melody here
and so true, we are a society of self, neglecting the natural wonders and perfections of this planet
but I think man has been like that for centuries
its survival
but then again, now the question of the planets survival is at stake

lovely photograph

This reminds me of "the grass is always greener on the other side." Hold tight to our dreams and enjoy what is there instead of wishing life away. Well said.

Gos bless you. Kathy

this is quite a reflection of how we take so much for granted and hurry through so many precious moments-i am so very guilty of it myself, thanks for the reminder

Chareles you nailed this subject. Yes, we are almost all guilty of walking the pity tour through life instead of stolling throught the art gallery of the beauty around us.
