Release now your binds from me
Let us unravel; set me free
Every day I seek to unwind
but your ties to me are most unkind
Is there any wonder how I long to be
free of thee, and even free of me?
Let me go
No longer does our understanding flow
You must realize it was all for show
I know you know...
but won't acknowledge that it's so
Please, please know
it is now time for me to go
So say goodbye
You fear more for yourself
than you do for I
No, watch me go—don't even try
to pretend you can't—too soft, too shy
shaking your head, you ask me, "Why?"
And it's hard to spare you
with some lie....
My time has come.
I hear my heart beat like some drum
slowing, stutter—weakening thrum
Stay here and let me hold your thumb...
as daylight fades and I grow numb,
my confession's just a burbled hum
You cannot follow where I now go
Where secrets cloak the earth like snow
Where I seek rest before I grow
and maybe, someday, we'll meet again
This collection of poetry addresses the nature of time, reflections on the natural world, the difficulty of loss,
