I lie awake
at night
resting on mother earth
looking at the stars
wondering what's abound
in the universe.
In the woods at night
I see many lights
belonging to thee
blinking brightly at me
I marvel at your perfection
dancing above me
a silent notation.
Oh
Great Spirit
give me the news
help me guard your inner world
your creatures
big and small
all that comes before me
help me love them
no hesitation
because we all are yours.
I lie awake at night
resting on mother earth
looking at the twinkling stars
doming the whole universe.
I marvel at your creation
enjoying the calming sensation
mother earth yields our bread
father sky protects as the head
Once again a poem with great depth. You may be on better terms with mother earth and father sky, but I sense similar thoughts when I stretch out beside Bayou Lafourche and gaze upward. Enjoyed.
Questions, unquestioned discoveries, and answers in parable and rhyme…. This collection records a journey starting with a 1960s retrospective and the first man on the moon, moving to a new millennium welcomed in with a terrorist spin, family crises,

My favorite part of this poem. We should all be as aware of mother earth as are you.
Thanks,
