We watched as she,
got food for her dog
food, she herself, did not
partake of.
The dog was clean,
groomed and healthy looking,
while she on the other hand...
was not.
She gave all to the dog
and none to herself.
She sat quietly alone
with her dog at her side,
grim looks always came
from the passer-by's.
Though hard work added
to poor health that saw her
as merely a work-horse for others to use
that led to a life where
no one cared (for her)...
And the bleakness of running
away from the insanity
from the world of a drunk
to escape
only to find herself penniless
and homeless
but still to have love always
from her dog,
a beloved companion,
always there for her
when others were not...
she made her life alone
with only a few who cared
and now nary a soul
says a kind word,
alone in a world gone mad
by greed
alone in a world where love
is now bought
alone in a world where all
may soon be...
for alone we all have become
for souls cannot carry on with money
but requires love to be
set free...
as her dog knows no such greed.
Wow! Powerful and penetrating. We have to think there's a better way for people who fall through the cracks of society. At least there are dogs who bond easily with anyone who will just pet them and not expect anything in return. There are lessons to learn here.
Beyond words; how you are "yelling" into my soul, Fawn. But you need not yell since I already was ready and wanting to hear this. Love, peace, and may it all be well,
