Dearly beloved we are gathered here today
To launch these two canoeists on their way
Down these uncharted waters to eternity
And the placid waters of Heaven’s Sea

To propel this canoe requires both to kneel
It requires teamwork because there is no keel
When a canoe it is balanced is a stable boat
Which requires teamwork to keep it afloat

Without paddles the canoe will be rudderless
Subject to the many whims of outside stress
From the raging rapids to the tranquil waters
Sunken logs, sand bars and hidden boulders

One canoeist can’t keep paddling for long solo
It requires two in tandem keeping up the tempo
Reach too far outside the craft and it only tips
If either tries to jump overboard the canoe flips

The journey is long and arduous but worth it
The trip requires trust, communication and grit
The adventures and the memories are priceless

The ultimate reward is a life full of happiness
