Outside there is a nip in the inky black
Strange and eerie noises fill the autumn night air
I huddle awaiting the inevitable attack
My knees a-knocking as I whisper a prayer
A strange tingling begins crawling up my neck hair
As the scary noises get nearer and louder
The undead monsters must have departed their lair
Unearthly caterwauls are sounding even scarier
A peek shows the advancing rabble angrier
Fierce grotesque disguised faces grinning hungrily
Frenzied chanting making the crowd blood thirstier
I fear I can’t stay hidden indefinitely
Gory ghouls and ghosts now are at my fortress’ entry
I hear knocking or it maybe my own heartbeat
The creaking door opens to my fated destiny
I am set upon by the cries of “trick or treat”
Hollowhappyhallo-ween!!
