A poem about Halloween night.

Old Halloween

This is the night of monster's evil scheme

For it is the night of old Halloween!

This night happens the same time each year

To put in each heart a dreadful fear!

A ride on a witch's broom is not what you'll choose

But if you don't watch it she'll win, you'll lose!

The ghosts are looking for someone to scare

Better hope it's  not you, they'll find there!

The wind is blowing with a howling sound

I hope it is only treats the childen have found!

If you look behind you, you might be surprised

The dead ones are rising to get their prize!

Don't take your time by staying to talk

Start running now, don't just walk!

For right in front of you, you may be told

A sinister being to behold!

The mummies are rushing to wrap themselves tight

They know they must be back before daylight!

I don't know about you on this gloomy night we see

But when the clock strikes midnight inside I will be!

Great poem with great rhythm. Very clever, Kathy! You did an awesome job on capturing the mystical feeling of Halloween. By the way, I'm having a poetry contest that benefits Riley Children's Hospital. If interested, click on "events" on my page.
