Wind Song
The wind always flows around us.
That’s a given. But sometimes
It whispers the music of the heart,
Carries the trails of the mind,
Whips around and around and around
With no beginning and no end.
You are always there,
Caught in that storm.
You ride the sails and traverse the waters,
The channels,
Meeting and ending at our eyes.
Eyes, the windows to the soul. Through which
Messages conveyed through fractions of seconds,
But they are fractions of seconds too long and yet too short,
Lost in an instant before they are fully grasped,
Yet tinged with hints of regret,
Elixirs of feeling,
And hints of past, present, future simultaneous.
But I hear the wind song
In the chirps of birds
Matching the happiness in my heart
As it plays a score perfectly in tune
With you, with me,
Yet forever unknown.
