Let’s Go

You know, I remember things

Selective, secret things

Showcased in the snow globes

Shadowed in the glitter storms

Swirled through the callousness of time

Borne of a raucous circus clown life

Oh, I was down, down

Oh, the bitters of night

The tastes of loneliness

But now

I smile when I twirl the teacup

Alice holding on to temptation

Wonderland whispers just inside the glass

Cheshire cat always grinning, always knowing

That my story is hidden and forever entrapped

And yet

No judgment was ever passed

He was there before me

Silent witness to memories

Made and preserved for better, for worse

So shake, rattle, and roll, baby

I’m ready, let’s go

Good that you made peace with your demons, so did I not too long ago. This is a happy poem, and yes indeed, shake, rattle and roll . . .
