Breathing into Stillness

When my thoughts are less

important than the wind, I hear

the sway of lemongrass,

the clacking of bamboo, palm

sighs and rooster calls, truck

gears grinding their way uphill,

the roar of silence in my inner ear–

a wave of sound that ebbs

with every burst of breeze.

I notice the dance of wing

on coconut frond, a dash

of scarlet as cardinal lands

on banana leaf. All this happens

in the sacred space

that welcomes everything

to its field of movement

within stillness, a stillness

that permeates each breath.

Well constructed Carol. As if you've isolated each sound in words of its own. Makes it easy to imagine those sounds, loud and slight that we have always heard but seldom notice. Enjoyable to read and located in the backwoods jungle and isolated side roads of the world. Bob

Captivating. As I conjured up thoughts of gentle breezes and trucks struggling uphill in low gear.

I could well imagine letting the senses... sense.
Things come alive in silence.
I enjoyed this.
