And the absense had come to a close and the boy's form arose at the door; and the girl greeted him with joy and surprise but soon knew there was much to realize; for the times had changed, and he wasn't the same, as he had been in his youth; the spark had dulled in his eyes after the day his friend had died, and now she knew for sure that this pain she'd continue to endure; for he had forgotten what he had once thought he had lost, and she was forced to return to her personal hell, as he came and went, without as much as a thought.
thank you for posting this Nikki; you are showing even more promise; this is astoundingly emotive poetry, with clear sadness and longing for something that has been lost. But... just remember: you cannot lose something that you never had. -- Jeff
