The way the society is becoming
I once were like you A syndicate of clones A slave to the government I used to think You couldn't break the impossible That rules were set in stone Obeying a contract We signed at birth I once followed suite Afraid to step out of line I kept my mouth shut Surely I am not the only one who can see through this? Frustrated by the constant demands Sheltered from living without choices How can you breathe under some-ones shadow -and not feel worthless? I stand out from the crowd You all look at me like I am crazy But I am telling you this… If we all joined together And realise just who leads us MPs full of greed Out to get their hands on anything free Prime Ministers Needing figures for popularity status Not really caring whose in the firing line Presidents full of power but always fail to impress When needed the most We rely on people Who we cannot trust Who is out to get their own need And dessert the ones who cry for help Soldiers dying by the lack of equipment Families breaking by the constant killings Abused kids, silenced by the upper hand Until it is to late and it’s only grieve and lame excuses -“Why weren't they protected?” Africans dying by the lack of medicine Homeless people longing for a home Bedroom tax? Ha! What a joke? How do we stand up to power? Who are we to stand up for what we believe? When all we are at the end of the day Is a clone keeping the world together!

You are so right! It is the dissenter, not the conformer, who accounts for most of the changes we call progress. But don't take on the world too soon. Change starts with each of us and works outward to the world. Nice going. Don't let the fire go out! Ed
