It seems one and all are confined here.

What are these walls of invisible confinement
that hold so many thoughtful mind’s at bay
allowing breezes of yesterday free passage
storms of present mentation's tearful rain
walls obscure yet impassable
no escape for those seeking tomorrow
a place to face challenges only of today

A silent pace void of footsteps
moving softly pass rooms of contemplation
each one holding emotions in bondage
though all are void of locks and keys
a self-imposed storage of upbringing
cast from others upon young minds
hoping they retain their elders concerns

Each room varies in size and shape
according to thoughts there left within
love seems to fill the largest
dedication the next in size
followed close by what’s called devotion
next door resides one’s desire
missing freely roams them all

Hate and anger hang on unseen rafters
along with jealousy and despise they bake
desperation and futility the walls ghostly pictures
hung with nails of spite and wrath
all awaiting to discourage feelings of betterment
to cause darken shrouds to cover one’s heart
leaving happiness lying by the wayside

What is this place within every mind
though it always differs in size
within some it’s a wondrous mansion
though others a closet oh so small
to all a means of individual actions
which are promoted for everyday dealings
tis nothing more than a prison of feelings
