October Glory
The sunshine now is mild and fleeting
The winds are refreshing and strong
The turning of clocks brings early nights
And the birds are looking for song
The scarecrows stiffly man their posts
The pumpkins are in from the field
The gourds and ciders grace the stands
With the apples that the orchards now yield
The moon appears as early as a noon
As a pageantry of autumn unfolds
The foliage of autumn is on the way
Of reds and oranges and golds
Football begins to fill our forums
And the baseball classic draws nigh
The festive Halloween charms the scene
As the stars twinkle in the October sky
