Little Girl’s Dreams Once there was a little girl Who dreamt of her life to unfurl She envisaged her life as a story Within her head, how her world would be She lay demurely and held a red rose A symbol of her future beaus Such innocence she couldn’t realise How her hope would never materialise A single red rose From which a passion arose A dream that never was to be A nightmare that turned into reality A child with visions, expectations Greeting her future with sensations Her life could have been so pure But life shattered that, on a detour How could she have possibly known That when into a woman she was grown All her ideals would be just a past When eternal happiness could not last A single red rose A passion that froze A dream that never came to be A nightmare unleashed and free The simplicity of a little girl’s dream Never to be realised in the grand scheme If she could turn back the hands of time And live her life in her words and rhyme And now that girl into a woman has grown Finds a photographic treasure of her own And now that rose that she held and cherished Has long since died and perished A single rose Clutching a red rose With a dream that a little girl held Nightmares could not be dispelled © Andrea Coltman

Oh Andrea this is one special write and you have done a great job of creating the imagery to go with the picture. I hope though you have not truly given up on your dreams, for with the spring there is always a new red rose to be picked, savored and hold in your mind as a reminder that new dreams are being born even if old ones may fadeout. You have a wonderful talent and are special.

Our innocent childhood dreams truly were marvelous, Andrea, as was this little girl's - and for most of us, they didn't turn out as we had hoped or envisioned when we reached adulthood - yet, we go on, and do the best we can.
