Not sure where THIS came from...guess I've been away too long...shoulda called it "Rusty", heh.

I lie awake and watch the light of

A hidden sun creep its way across

The foot of my bed, probing my

Window blinds to form stripes

Like heated prison bars in a dark

Golgotha where nothing ever grows.

Sheets twisted with rancid dreams

Lay jumbled on the bedroom floor

And it occurs to me that perhaps

Things do grow here in this self

Imposed confinement, a kind of

Malaise that stirs my fevered skull.

And whether I feed on it, or it feeds

On me matters not at all, only that we

Hunger in kind from an aimless craving

To fill this blackened void, yes here, at

The center what I am, restless heartbeat

Like bloodied fists pounding out my eternity.

As that hidden sun crawls towards oblivion.

END

RUSTY? Yes, I was yelling intentionally. This is brilliant, shiny, a light for the rest of us who tend to lock ourselves away or get lost in malaise, too. A joy to read this. Really well done.

I could feel this as I read and the imagery was in my mind. Many times i've awaken to see the sun shining through the window and the shadows on the bed. Most of the time I be wanting to get outside in it. G

Strong picture of bars, prisons, self-laceration. Open the windows and see the sunshine!

Wouldn't call this "Rusty", George; rather "Palpable"; "Pulsating"; "Power-packed" and insatiable. This is almost suffocating with that heat of knotted and twisted sheets that is all-too familiar after restless nights of fever or distress. You have captured that "Golgotha" place of the soul excellently here. And endless night bleeds into the renewed knuckle-knawing thrumming of a soporific, senseless dawn. Great energy in this very controlled and finely-weighted write which portrays its agony most graphically. Never crawl away from us, will you?! We need you here! LOL Kate xx

Eileen
