Your Eyes

Your Eyes
by Debra Kraft
c2008

Your eyes

gazing at me into me beyond me
never hiding yet hidden
still

the glimpse of a will that would not be broken
intriguingly open

reflecting a tomorrow in which I had a part

touching the dreams,
the fairy-tale fantasies in my innocent heart
and feeding them more

seeding the core of my soul with possibilities
I'd never thought to explore

allowing me to imagine a life past imagining ...

We were young then

and visions change with age
with life

yet in that youth, a raw truth,
and still your eyes surprise me
in them I will always see the fairy-tale fantasies of an innocent heart

and more ...

I guess what you express here is the reason I don't mind when so many tell me that I "never grew up." Thank you, Debra. Love and best wishes,

YES! When we lose our fairy-tale fantasies, we tend to get lost along the way. Good poetry!
