A reflection of myself―
giving back my thoughts, my dreams.
An image I could not see.
You took my hand
and looked with me.
Explaining, defining, making real
all that was hidden
beyond my sight.
I looked anew and saw
that which you said existed,
what was us, what was you.
Nothing of me was left.
I believed.
And then a thousand wounds
inflicted by your hands,
filled the outline of my soul.
Fractured truth,
tears reflected again and again,
image without end.
Fear of losing
what had never been,
now shattered, gone.
I slowly turned away,
left the broken dream
and looked instead within.
Found something of my own,
quietly taking possession.
At peace, with me.
