It's that time of year
When dusk
Seems to insist
Against open windows
And fingers feel cold.
It is the interim
Between -
When all is not
What it seemed
At mid day warm.
Lay out now
What you've stored away.
Lay in again
And more
Of what you'll
Wish for -
More than you anticipate -
For warm
For comfort,
For satisfaction,
And more important
For love
For tomorrow night
Comes frost.
