For all of us who grieve on account of the state of the world... but who are not left without hope. Thinking here especially of Susan Rowse, who lost a brother to Hurricane Francis, and of Bhuwan and his kids in war-torn Nepal. And for many of us whose sorrows are known - and unknown.

Beg, steal or borrow
a heart and some tears,
a gut full of sorrow
for earth's murderous years
Beg, steal or borrow
some shame and remorse
for letting tomorrow
depart in a hearse
Beg, steal or borrow
the truth and not lies:
We play at El Toro

the will to repent
and maybe the horro
will cease and relent

a stomach for the fight;
don't swallow the Tarot

...Cracks me up, too, Andy... all I have done is to write and express the heartfelt empathy of many of us. But a little solidarity goes a long way... and the feeling of not being alone. The sense of togetherness can be an awesomely powerful thing. This is my first time back after driving back home from Savannah and burying Tommy. So sad. I'm not really capable of saying too much today but I had to thank you and the other Author's Den good people who held me up. Without you all, Rafael and my family I would be at the total bottom of the pool. It's been hard for all of us these last few days but worse on my mother who can't understand why she has out lived her own child. Life is strange and the path is gravel but hope and perserverence are the two things we hold tight to in times like this. I thank you a million times in my heart for your friendship and your kind poem. Peace and harmony are the sutures that will mend us all one day!

Kate, this is tearfully profound, if I may use such a juxtaposition
of words.

harping on the phrases we already know. It will be a grand day,

I'm feeling so sorry for all the victims. I want to send some books to Bhuwan's children, yet I'm don't know if the mailbox is a complete address, or even the mail is working. I have yet to wait for Bhuwan's reply on this. I hope he will reply me very soon as to whether the mail are going through.
