This is a sequel to yesterday's Freedom and is a melee of other angel thoughts as well... thanks, too for your suggestions for Freedom's needed title change! Will do. :)) K xx

ANGELIC VISITATION

The heat of his smile was
the searing bright of sunrise,
burning my lids before
opening my eyes to
the fresh skies of my room;
his breath was bruising with a
delicate early-morning scent.

As daybreak stretched and yawned,
I breathed his unseen presence -
the heavenly man whose only form
was the benediction of a mind’s kiss.

Time, space and recollection –
all were white; just the sound
of his voice lingered,
a mute feather on the floor…

Day’s tide advances, soaking up light
in primary colours and solid shape;
my angel might now be dressed
in financial reports and armed
with power in high places -

but my noisy quiet will find him
as I calculate his busy thoughts;
his soft, dove-like underbelly
will be naked to my eyes.

He will hear my peaceful silence
offer what only I know is missing,

saying: “Hello! Glad I found you” and
“This, I think, is yours.”

This brought tears to my eyes...maybe it wasn't meant to...but the warmth and peace and serenity... you nailed it! You described this scene so perfectly I could smell, see, feel it...
"Hearing your peaceful silence" and answering in the same way...
Stunning and moving piece of poetry, Kate.

Angels do visit us while we are sleeping and it is all God's plan to add to the enjoyment of the world. Too bad some people cannot find angels and God. We all need them.

"As daybreak stretched and yawned..." Sheer poetry, Kate! Perhaps, that's a tired, oft-repeated phrase, yet I have come to realize that cliches are cliches for a reason: They're basically always true!

"...but my noisy quiet will find him..." I instantly knew that I was reading something here that I fully understand, never could express. Again, your juxtapositions are a bingo!

Ahhhhh... you have internal rhyme, alliteration, the poetic "lesson" but from your pen it seems effortless, natural, perfectly placed. The tenderness and quiet beauty of this telling could melt an iceberg. Such is the way of dear Kate's poetry. katy xox

i like how you assembled your imagery and thoughts in this poem ... though powerful he may be you know how to recognize his gentle nature ...and how to offer him what he needs ... very unique ethereal romanticism even though his "his breath was bruising with a
delicate early-morning scent" ... i like that image a lot ... very cunning finale ...

This explains the feather you found in your earlier poem. How beautifully written! I would love to be "visited, but that's God's decision. I love this line: "As daybreak stretched and yawned" Your writing is superb, Kate.

Thoughts that could come from Benedictine wisdom.

You gotta keep passing on this gift you have..
