"There's nothing to do that can't be done,
Nothing to win that can't be won,
Nothing to say that hasn't been said,
It's easy to do once you learn how to play the game, It's easy."
Don't know how I missed this metaphorical gem.
Good on ya Katherine.
A pleasure to read Kate. We have ups and downs highs and lows so we continue the good fight even in our dreams at night. Carry your torch high my friend for all the world to see you'll carry on and survive. May peace and love be always with you. Jon Michael
Very enjoyable read. I suspect everyone had a "dream me." I know my dream me has been playing for a long while, but maybe it is time to turn "reality me" back on....
Ooo...eerie. It leaves me thinking of Easter a bit, really, recalling that story from the bible where a woman's been bleeding 12 years non-stop, and thinks that if she could just sneak up and touch the hem of Jesus' garment, then she'd be healed. But he feels that sapping of energy leave him at her touch. ...anyways, in spite of the cost to you, this write has got me thinking beautiful things. I'm thinking a massage for you with some energy work mixed in might be just the thing to put things right. --Charlie
Well, here's to hoping those "prodigals" are switching you on. I sent you an email, but I'm not sure if you even read emails - many people consider it 'old-fashioned;' so many nowadays are about 'texting' and Words With Friends (which I *LOVE*, btw) - wasting time on WWF and poetry sites... sure it's a dream, but it's MY dream! ;-) Dreams do come at a steep cost... sometimes. And no, that cost cannot always easily be quantified. I also love "sneeze of a dress;" at least, assuming there's not "snot" involved... LOL. Kate, as always, I love your characterizations and personifications; in just a few lines, you have us all captive to your imagery. And, contrary to Ronald Hull, I watch "Downton Abbey," not the lesser-known distant cousin, "Downtown Abbey." :-)
Strange that a person from the UK would dream of things (Academy Awards, Al Capone card shark and Greyhound bus) Stateside. While those of us in the States would be dreaming of The Royals and Downtown Abbey.
Your dreams must be powerful to suck the prodigals out of you! ;-)
Well I think it is true to say that, we have all been guilty of prodigal waste at some time or another. Some might suggest wasting money on poetry sites is the ultimate sin, whereas dreams cost nothing.
Yet there again how does one value a dream?
I relate to what you express through your verses here, Kate; I have been a bit "on the edge" lately; probably because (at least that is one of my excuses) of a winter that has not been. Thank you for sharing. Love and best wishes,
Lean and mean, getting to the essence of longing VS acceptance. lIke pins in slowly inserted into our cultural voodoo doll, you've penned an encapsulate of the malaise that is slowly poisoning many--at least that's how it struck me. Well done.
I can most assuredly see you clutching that statuette, on that red carpet and all. I don't usually get to where I can't write, although I sure as heck get to where I can't write all that well, like my poetry has been lately. Get those prodigals to free you up, and I know you will.

This is a classic and I am glad to have found you again, Kate.
Superb revelation!
Your dreams must be powerful to suck the prodigals out of you! ;-)

PS… Don't sneeze in that dress!
