A plea for Love in the seemingly contentious World
If we subjugate the 'I'
Rein in toxic 'me' and 'my'
For a while forget the 'mine'
We will then for sure incline
To be considerate, and yes, kind
To nature and to human-kind
If we smile- forgo the scowl
Deal fairly, forget the fowl
Judge not always 'other's' sins
Then no one loses-everyone wins
If we just once stop and think
Before we put our pen to ink
We'll not hurt but bring joy
To every little girl and boy
Everywhere. Won't that be great?
So let's get started, let's not wait.
The world awaits our gentle touch
I'm not pleading for too much
To make the World a better place
And put a smile on every face.
In your heart I'm sure you'll find
Some Love to give to all mankind.
Not only a well written poem, a wonderful plea that most people wish for. Unfortunately, most people allow people with agendas based on their selfish beliefs to obtain leadership positions and hold onto those narrow thinking beliefs in almost every country on the planet.
As I read your poem I thought of John Lennon's epic song, Imagine. So long ago now. While you still deal with so much unrest for all of the wrong reasons.
