' Correctional facility' is old jail
From where now all criminals hail
Army, Navy, Air-'armed forces'
'Equestrians' are riders of horses
'Social studies' was called History
' Documentation' - old registry
Police dogs are now 'canine'
' Penalty' was good old -fine
' Narrative' replaced the story
"Apology' instead of sorry
Place is old- the new 'facility'
'Assertive' is the fancy uppity
Hospital has sadly croaked
' Health care facility' now invoked
Doc has now become ' provider'
Simple name- now much wider
People have transformed to 'humans'
'Citrus' are old juicy lemons
Fancy words do not change things
A bird doesn't 'vocalize'- it sings
Like putting makeup on a pig
Prettier? Maybe- still a pig
Please let simple English be

Yes, jargon and frequent use of certain words and phrases that are meaningless tend to creep into the language. Thumb texting with its abbreviated words has probably done more to change the language than all the other jargon created before.
My pet peeves used to be, irregardless, that can be easily replaced by regardless. Also, centering around. Would indicate a kind of dallying before focusing and centering on.
Finally, the latest buzzword in the news. Everything these days has impact. For example, a simple kiss can become very, impactful. Now that is quite a useless word comparing it with saying that the kiss was simply, sweet.
