My child, the fear of failure
Should not be feared at all.
To the great, it is an end,
And also to the small.

My child, true greatness comes along
In details yet unseen:
A subtle change of tune in song,
A change small but serene.

It may come as a smile within
To hold you through the day.
From this, a bit of wisdom
Sways in a profound way.

My child, the fear of failure
Is nothing more or less
Than human thoughts unsure,
Brain farts and daily stress.

Remember each morning you wake
And when you close each day,
The sun will rise, the sun will set
It is but nature’s way.

The sun knows not, it is but one
Who slowly lights our ground.
We all have greatness like the sun,
Bright sun beams to be found.

The only thought worse than our fear
Of falling to failure’s gate -
Is when one rises to top tier,
And one thinks one is great.

One’s thought now, so settling,
Becomes unchallenged past,
And one’s success as it was born
Was doomed to die as fast.

Child, don’t settle into pattern
Or disregard tomorrow,
Just because you think you’re sure
You’ve not to lend or borrow.

You are a precious envelope
With invites yet to open.
So look within, see the scope
Of your heart you have to lend.

From "greatness" and from "failure,"
Let us both derive:
We are n’er wholly either,
Long as we’re alive.

And if you think greatly upon
A "failure" or "success,"
Life is a journey we are on –
Take time from its duress.

In the meantime, character
Builds confidence sublime –
The kind enough to ensure
You move forward in rhyme.
