Though patience has never been
my strong point or my virtue,
by teaching me to exhale slowly
it is something I am learning to do.
As I feel my need to be unbridled
fade into a place where I have peace
I offer you the key to the kingdom
where you may come and go with ease.

And when I see no beauty,
I will focus on your face,
paint you the color of deepest love
where I am lost in your embrace.
I will speak to you of honesty,
always deserving your trust,
and in silence you will hear my soul
as it whispers from dawn to dusk.

When I find myself perplexed,
confusion taking root,
I will have faith in who you are,
understanding being my truth.
What I feel comes without a price,
no pressure or expectation,
just an unconditional gift to you
as part of this creation.

If I could pick the biggest rose
fresh with morning dew,
I'd pierce myself with every thorn
before I'd let even one hurt you.
I will listen as you speak your heart,
your happiness and your fears,
never in judgment to criticize,
my heart will be my ears.

Though my arms may be full and sore,
an outstretched hand you'll always find,
holding you up or holding you close,
whatever you need at the time.
Even in my darkest pain,
when my heart seems broken in two,
the door to the place that you now own
will always be open for you.

With sorrow now behind me,
I give freely my happiness,
a smile you've planted deep inside,
a hope that we may share this bliss.
If tomorrow should bring my end,
then today I will make sure you know
that you made my life worthwhile
and I'll take you with me when I go.

Not one single regret will ever be
when it comes to you and I,
you are the dream I thought was dead,
you gave me back my life.
So I offer this to take or toss,
a promise to see you through,
vulnerable yet so unafraid,
I could be fearless beside you.
