A poem to my Great Love

Poem Artwork

Intimate moments with a special person.

When I think of my intimate moments of life,

The peace and contentment and absence of strife

There was more that one lady I shared them with

Those moments of passion and moments of bliss.

As I try to recall all those moments gone by

All those earlier moments how hard I must try

To remember them and what they did mean.

It is even harder to remember the scene.

As I struggle and struggle and try to recall,

I soon come to realize they were not intimate at all.

To be intimate is more than just biological drive

It is two people who to understand each other do strive.

From the very first night with my fine lady I sat

We just sat and talked of this and of that.

We became friends, then buddies before anything else

And the welfare of the other was the same as of self.

To this very day we can still sit and talk

But best of all is to talk as we walk

Round the streets of our neighborhood just before dusk.

Those walks are so peaceful, so quiet and so hushed.

As we walk hand in hand or with our arms round each other

If anyone is watching we do not even bother.

As we walk and we talk we are only aware

Of each other and if others are watching just let them stare.

They will soon realize those old fuddy-duddies at dusk

Are so much in love, they talk, as all true lovers must.

We are halves of each other and when we come together

We must talk to each other so the other knows whether

Our love was still strong as we went through our day

And just what has happened while each half was away.

To others I say when you go home tonight

Don’t turn on the TV just turn on the light,

And sit there and talk to the one you love best.

That intimacy alone will take care of the rest.

I will miss my great love if she is first to go

And the other way round it still will be so.

I will look down from above as she goes through her life

To still love and protect her, that love of my life

Absolutely beautiful and so heart touching....Kudos to you sir; this was and excellent read that makes it so much more beautiful because it's true. I too feel that way about my hubby; he is my best friend. Thank you for sharing, this was awesome and such a reminder of how beautiful love is and how beautiful the spoken language can be. Keep on writing....

Had a good time talking with my hubby Tom, We always could talk things over and agreed before marriage that that is what would hold our marriage together. It lasted til death parted him from me, a very sad time, I felt I had to go with him too and soon, but now 8 months and still grieving but still here. He will be waiting at the pearly gates for me to enter in, that is a nice thought to keep me going. Thanks for the write, so romantic and sentimental. We both were that too and life was worth living then with him.

What happened Patrick? There is so much hustle and bustle today. People don't take time to know one another before the relationship that perhaps should not have been is ruined by making a move too soon. This is so wonderful. I feel like singing 'how much is that doggie in the window, the one with the waggly tail, I do hope that doggies for sale'. While I walk and hold hands. (SMILE)

Patrick,

This is splendid poetry, which goes beyond the mundane...and into the realm of being connected spiritually. Having this depth of appreciation, for this kind of love which you share, guarantees its continuance.

God bless you both.

(sniffles) this is soooooooooo great Pat. And you are so right too. Intimacy does not mean having just sex. It means having a relationship of trust, of communication, of laughter, of sadness, of raising your children the best you know how. Giving presents that don't cost too much, but having the thought of giving him (her) something nice. This and many other things are what an intimate relationship is all about. May the Lord be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love, peace, & (((HUGS))), Barbie

Pat,
This is so soft, so romantic, so strong, so peaceful, a loud strong message of true love and all that it is. So beautiful it brings tears to my eyes. Just sways gracefully into my heart. Your heart beating peacfully as is your mind, and now mine.
I could go on and on here.
Beautiful and Strong.
Thank You Pat for showing me and teaching me when true love comes along, I now will know.
Thank You
Love Tracey xoox
