This poem was inspired by the Robert Frost poem 'Spring Pools'
They meet every year
In a forest
secluded high in the mountains
From the snow he comes
Gracefully making his way down
to their rendezvous
Silently
she awaits the arrival of her beloved
Like Sleeping Beauty,
only his kiss can awaken her
Then up from the earth she springs
Arrayed in her most splendid colors
To celebrate their love
Possessing no words to express his admiration
He demonstrates his love
By reflecting her beauty
to the sun and sky
His face is the mirror
they use to gaze at one another
His water is the blood
that flows in her veins
All to soon
It is time for them to part
He gives every bit of himself to her
Before returning to the heights
To his home atop the mountain
Sadly she watches him leave
His love
and the last vestiges of his life
Sustain her
She slowly settles back to sleep
Cradled in her mother’s arms
Awaiting love
and a lover’s kiss
Hi Anthony!
I am so impressed with this piece of work! The romance you created between Nature and the Elements is very clever and insightful.
I enjoyed this so much, I read it three times.
Romantic and perfectly penned. A keeper!
Questions, unquestioned discoveries, and answers in parable and rhyme…. This collection records a journey starting with a 1960s retrospective and the first man on the moon, moving to a new millennium welcomed in with a terrorist spin, family crises,
