writing the poem -- angry? --, you kept it simple. Yherein lies its power. By choosing a few perfect words, you have

A passionate write, Anthony, that I'm sure will resonate with people concerned about some of our black men who've embraced corroded values. I like how you stated at the end that you are one too. This prevents the poem from being an "us-them" write, thick with condemnation, and reveals that the heart of the poet is with (in prayer/in the trenches) his fellow man in the struggle to overcome poverty of spirit and to rise to his rightful place of honor from which he honors the ancestors, his family, himself, and God.
