FORGIVENESS ETERNAL

From the sky a little rain may fall

Or it may come abundantly, washing away all

Regrets, remorse, reason…the top soil of our life

Granting us a new slate upon which to draw.

Inviting us to rebuild the love Christ died to give…

Verify that which exists within the core of our creation,

Exists within the very heart of that which is of God.

Time responds to nothing but the will of God

His hand carries our today, overflowing with our yesterday,

Each finger drawing a watercolor of our tomorrows

Mercy filled; a necessity of His loving patience.

Loneliness, born of a bitten fruit’s juices

Overflowing unto a ground fertile green,

Running in brown stains of a new found sickness…

Death; misery; heartache for the sin of empty love.

Father in heaven, why are you so gracious to us?

Often we have turned away from your sacrifice,

Rejected the promise for the present darkness.

Take my hand, oh Lord…

Heal my heart, physician of souls…

Enter into this bag of burdens called life…

Yet, even as I plead, I think only of my needs…

Kissing His cheek, sealed Your journey.

Nothing could stop that moment, for Judas was chosen,

Ordained, to surrender his soul while surrendering Your body,

Watching them drag you away, as the silver tarnished in his hands.

Never again, dear Lamb, will such a sacrifice be made,

Only this world and time will be lost upon your altar.

Then, all will be cleaned and new; your glory restored…

When, Father of time, may I know your Love again?

Have You not reached for us, Your arms outstretched,

And did I not simply stare, amazed, but not reach to You?

Though hands and feet were torn, Your eyes shone with love.

This, then, is my final plea, as the sun darkens.

Hold my hand…wrap your robe around me,

Envelope my soul even as pestilence and fire fall to me,

Yes, before this world falls away from my feet…save me.

Drown me in the cleansing blood you feely gave;

Overthrow my sin, bring me home to Your mercy again.
