Sun set
The land had stopped shaking
A while after, in the dusty mist,
The final breaths taking
And the plea for forgiveness.
The laying down of the cross;
The gentle removal from the nails,
These were done under the heavy loss,
And the deepening shadows when daylight fails.
Cleansing and wrapping, preparing as it were,
Bearing the body, now burden free,
To a place prepared for a final rest that was near…
Though, for the Son of God, was not to be…
Sun Rise
The land steamed where sun met morning air,
And the ground at a certain place
Still shined where the blood and tears had fallen there…
Still cleansing, still blessing, as when flowing down His face.
And the sun moved steadily,
Bringing the day around…
And the guards walked softly,
Near the stone hiding the body in the cave in the ground.
Birds stopped by, singing a soft song,
And a stray sheep wandered lost, nearby,
Where it was gathered by its shepherd after not long,
And the sun left no shadows where the stone faced the sky…
Sun set
The clouds from the previous day
Settled in distance as the sun finished its trip,
And the light settled into darkness as is the way
Of the world, and silence reigned from His scented lips…
Saddened hearts now headed home as the hour grew late,
Grieving the love lost, forgetting what was told,
They left to return in the morning when the dew would be on the stone gate,
When the victory would be settled by He whom the ground could not hold.
The darkness began to fall
As the stars began to gather
The dark clouds fell away as the Moon’s silver ball
Moved the darkness in the presence of His Father.
Son Rise
There should have been angel choirs
And songs of the heavenly hosts
Yet only guards, in a sleep of many hours
And singing birds were witness to the moving stone’s dust
Beyond death the Son of God rose from His bed
As promised, He sealed His covenant to His sheep
On the third day, after He suffered and bled
He walked from His tomb, His mission of love still to keep
And still He lives and offers His blood,
And still we may be saved by His outstretched hand
For He has risen, in all the glory of God
Soon to reign over His flock and His new made land.
This is awesome!!! You are truly one of His sheep! God bless you.
Many blessings,
~Linda
