As a voracious reader this one really connects with me. Reading has been as much of my life since I was a small boy as breathing has. It has given me comfort, honesty, direction at times but over all an escape that is not an escape.

Yes! Books are our best friends they are everything your words describe! Diana, there have been books I could not put down. I couldn't put them down and would read until I was finished. I mean, I wouldn't go to sleep even!! Great ink!!

Perfect. Taking a simple image -- pages -- and making it profound. Love every word of this succinct masterpiece.

A vivid and poetic treatise for truth, for we all know truth can be held back, but its reality, whoever may be holding it, will eventually be exposed. As writers, we perhaps have it easier than others to express such truths and feel relatively safe behind the veil of fiction, and yes, poetry. Honesty, however, knows well the path that often takes further beating down, with more rocky obstructions to remove, even unexpected waters to ward off, but, as you so rightfully point out, as reality and metaphor, the pages, like the many ideas of what comes after death,"they save your place." Loved how you gave the dagger of persuasion a little extra twist with your last line. Bravo... succinct, and meticulous in word choices and phrasing to challenge the doubtful.
