Not just here, but Everywhere

Poem Artwork

 {The travesty is when it becomes no longer our property to rebuild.  In the deep South this is referred to as 'demolition by means of neglect.' It just rots and sinks into the ground....all by itself}

Everywhere

It looks like
deer in headlights

Smells like
fire burning hair

Sounds like
ribs cracking
bones breaking
tooth aching

Feels like
sand melting
ocean sucking
feet sinking
sun extinguishing
planets popping
universe heaving

     thing

When human decency
becomes the last extinct species.

Why was I thinking of The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down?

What an emotional piece driving directly at what is wrong with trying to make America some so-called great again when it never really was. When are the good folks in this country and in the Congress going to stand up for decency instead of cowtowing to power and greed.

What's become of us?

Wow, if I interpreted this correctly, the premise of changes, modifications leading to deterioration, leading to "human decency, becomes the last extinct species."

The word "thing" is a profound epiphany of what might be left someday as a result of your gradual paring away layer after layer until...

As always, your ability to make me stop and do some inordinate, serious thinking is so inviting. Thank you. And thank you for catching the missing tooth "witch" in my last poem.

Well penned. These images of distress, destruction and loss serve as hallmarks for your overarching theme of the loss of human decency that we are now clearly witnessing in today's world, today's culture, and I dare say today's politics. A traditional Islamic saying comes to mind: A nation will get the leader that they deserve."

Say Something Terrorible v3 by RickthePoetWarrior

My mom says ‘If you can’t say anything nice then don’t say anything’. Sorry mom but under the guise of poetic license I penned these beauties.
