Da Vinci journal
on my night stand
leather bound friend
gorged with living.
Pen-sketched pictures
carved-out words
stabbed clean through,
mopped up later, kindly.
Embossed, planted, paved,
burnished, brandished, milked,
flung, crushed to chest, held there tightly
sobbed, cackled, lectured
cooked and served,
loudly-sung, jewelry-hung
lit with fragrance, flame.
The weight too heavy —
too essential not to carry.
A journey like none other,
story of each other,
…..to be continued.

And I love the outstanding sketch on your cover. My sister-in-law was a horse woman and was Miss Wisconsin Rodeo for two years with an option to compete in Las Vegas for national honors, but didn't go because of the cost.
A graduate student I knew at West Virginia University wrote me that she fell in love with a visiting artist from Argentina, married him, and got her wish, to ride naked on horse back on a deserted South American beach.
However, he believed in machismo, so she left him and came back home.
