Voices are imploring us all to do whatever we can to mend the tear in our global moment, to make music, art, to write, stand, help each other, pay attention, learn more, share, speak, all in effort to raise the fallen.

The Frogs are Singing

From Portland, Oregon
to Portland, Maine
the frogs are singing.

Morning to night
they voice the same,
their messages bringing:

“What’s done to others
is done to self,
the kind the cruel.”

“Our way of life holds
decency rules.”

The dance, the tunes,
the words, the costumes,
singing frogs and unicorns,
whistles, sirens, honking horns,
fill the air with lift and light,
or smoke and screams
and loss of life by

Fearful men wielding anger and pain,
who think $$ will give them a name.

…yet…the music plays on….

From millions of People in our streets,
the signs they hold, the smiling toads,
from Portland to Portland — read them:

“What’s done to some is done to all.”
“We are each other’s keepers.”
“We defend our decency.”
“We will protect our freedom.”

Your poem sings an anthem of quiet moral courage. I love how the frogs’ chorus becomes a national conscience, stretching from coast to coast, reminding us that decency is not an abstract ideal but a lived, shared responsibility. The contrast you draw between the joyful noise of community and the darker noise of fear is heard with real force. And the way the people’s voices rise to echo the frogs’ message gives the poem a hopeful lift. A lovely reminder that even in troubled times, small voices can call us back to ourselves.

You're right. More than ever, the good people of this country should move out and into the streets demanding that the will of the people, not of a few wealthy people, determined the course of this great nation and the world.

Good to have you back speaking your consciousness with fact and hope. Such a shout for sanity is this pulse of clarity and empathy. To maintain a sense of topical awareness, one is made to run in place as history not only repeats itself, but asks we never have to repeat again... just bow to the emporer of the western hemisphere. So, ingesting your words of warning are more than a cautionary alert, your words are joining otheres who feel we are living tn the growth of a mind-sick plague that will continue to contaminate the well and more deeply penetrate the infected. Thank the creation of cognitive, creative and adaptability, endowing us with the gift of control, but a constrol that listens more to Nature than to the humanstance that opts to think of the masses as cageable. Your Portland thesis of coercion is so timely, If only more will wake up from thier hypnotic trance of Making America Great again and resolve to make themselves sane again. Thank you again for posting such a needed reminder of how those of us still with the capacity to logically use our hearts and minds will someday be able to look back and hopefully give new meaning to the answer to what the iconic Peggy sang, "Is That All There Is?"
