Mayfly Flew Over

I had an encounter with a white mayfly on the night I was walking down the street of Manhattan. That experience alone inspired me to write this poem the same night, and here it goes...
Mayfly Flew Over A mayfly flew over. Perched on my finger. Three seconds you make me wonder. Off you go as I wander. Your days may go on no further. Farewell � and I bid thanks for coming over. On the night I saw you yonder. Wish you got me closer. For in three days I�d see you no longer. You need not to cry on my shoulder. Even as I�m feeling walked all over. Your calm is the beauty you render. Your white membranous wings shimmer. Your soul makes me feel tender. Thus you gave me such healing power!

spiritually, i believe the mayfly symbolically suggested that in a fleeting moment, one can experience the source of wonder and enchantment no matter where one is located or what the source may be ... a mayfly is somewhat unusual to observe in manhattan ... nice ambiance and imagery in your poem ...

it's a very sweet poem
mayfly has a short life
this may remind us that we are also vulnerable
no matter what, the end could be closer than we think

From what I remember the mayfly is an insect, that is a good omen.One connected with spiritual matters.
I enjoyed this poem ,it is unique and well written.
