This poem is a cry out against the war mongers of this world. It addresses the indifference of leaders around the world who will go to any length to get their way in the name of democracy. This poem is entitled, War, The Biggest Oxymoron of All!
War, The Biggest Oxymoron of All!
Who do you think you are fooling?
You said that you wanted to liberate Kuwait
But, hold on! Hold on! But wait!
Where did you do your schooling?
Are you going to answer me?
Yes, I will, “Like father, like son!”
We will sacrifice our stepson
Because it is all about me.
We don’t care about the polls.
For if you are not with me
You are against me.
You don’t count, you have no souls.
My father started it.
We want to export hopelessness
We want to inflict homelessness
I will finish it.
We don’t care about building a mall
We don’t care about a child’s playground
My personal ship will never run aground
So, we will destroy hope and even Taj Mahal.
The war is good for my economy
I mean family, friend and my business.
If you stay out of my business
You won’t be an enemy.
I have a mandate to do a job,
Spread fear, discrimination,
Hatred, racism and world destruction
To do it, I’ll pull a gun and rob.
I have inherited a surplus
I don’t even know what that mean (s)
I will continue to be mean
As long as my bank account has a plus.
I will take no further question
Dick, my friends and I
We have to poke somebody else in the eye.
We have to plan some more destruction.

Those who would disagree with this are voluntarily blindfolded and have their hands over their eyes, in my opinion. For too many, it is more important to "stick to your guns" than it is to hear and see and KNOW the truth or at least listen as well as talk. It is arrogant and nonproductive to think anyone is always entirely correct... BUT... I'm frightened by the growing evidence that too many don't mind being entirely wrong! Stubborn is when you don't want your sister to wear your shirt... NOT when people's lives and health care, etc. are at stake. 60% of this country's corporations/companies pay NO income tax... and we're letting them. Damn!
