Belief in God is:
that one would do good
even if it were unrewarded
in this life or any other.
One would know
that the thousandth springtime
is as astounding as the first.
Without friends or family
would never be
totally lonely.
In disaster
one would never be
in despair.
Without home, would never be without
home
Without money
would never be completely
poor,
would not rule out
answered prayers,
no matter how unlikely.
Imagine much beyond all bibles
(this one or that one)
all creeds,
and much beyond any sermon
all the way to Kindness itself
to nature Herself.
And imagine listening carefully to
enemies, and to those
who are most different from ourselves,
because we may be wrong
about everything
else
