Just trying to let the world knows that i'm proud of my origin, race and country.

It’s been a long day,

It’s been a long journey.

I was so tired like everybody in the ship.

It’s been one hell of a journey.

Suddenly, the view became clearer.

The much awaited island.

Oh my God.

So it’s real.

The much talked about island

The island that breathes uncertain money

The island that breathes uncertain wealth.

The island of uncertain succour,

For a run-away like me.

I tot you would asked me why?

Why I was running away?

Just like every youth in my street,

Like every youth in my town,

Like every youth in my nation.

Yes, I was running away.

From the hardship of my nation

From the wickedness of my leaders

From the cruelty of my brethren

From the uncertain future,

That stares me wickedly in the face.

I decided to join the ship of uncertainty

Ferrying uncertain people,

With uncertain names.

Clutching uncertain documents,

To an uncertain island.

The island that breeds racism.

The island that breeds terrorism.

The island of uncertainty.

Like I said, the view became clearer.

The island became real.

We were all happy, I was the happiest.

Then suddenly, the ship grounded to a halt.

Just in a split second,

My feet touched the island.

I knelt down on my knees

Unable to hide my joy,

I used my uncertain hand,

To touch the sand of the uncertain island.

There and then, I knew it was not a dream.

We were told to line up on a straight line.

You can’t believe it.

Even the uncertain island,

Has uncertain security measure.

The uncertain security men,

Were on hand to receive us.

They asked for our uncertain documents.

I was the last person on the line.

With trembling hands and anxious spirit,

My co-travelers were released

To join the uncertain inhabitants,

In the pursue, of uncertain wealth..

Then, when it was my turn

The story changed.

My documents were rejected,

By the uncertain security men,

Because of the uncertain signature

From an uncertain nation.

I was tagged “the uncertain man”

With an uncertain mission

To an uncertain island.

I was dumbfounded.

How can my nation be uncertain?

How can an original document be uncertain?

How can my personality be uncertain?

Somebody please help me out.

I’m already stranded, on the uncertain island

My cries for mercy fell on the uncertain ears.

Out of anguish, I cried out loud.

I’m black, I’m real

I’m a N-I-G-E-R-I-A-N

My country is on the map

Even though the Atlantic is our neighbour,

Yet we lack portable water.

Even though bitumen flows under our soil,

We lack good road.

Even though our soil,

Is flowing with milk and honey,

We live in penury and poverty.

Even though we produce graduates,

The jobs are for the selected few.

Lo and behold, no help came

With the next available ship,

I was deported back to my nation

To face my uncertain future

In an uncertain manner.

Oh, what an uncertain journey.

There's so much emotion in this; I could feel your pain as I read. This, to me, is good poetry.
