Yesterday’s Ghosts
Warming hands on grandpop's pipe
Walking side by side through day's last light
These are the times I remember the most
When I look back on yesterday's ghosts.
Memory plays tricks on all by the score
But leaves just a crack to yesterday's door,
No matter what we as mortals will do
Those thoughts will influence us all our life through.
We laugh on a whim or shed a short tear
It's something from long ago we can hear,
They live on in our minds of that I am sure
For without yesterday's ghosts our life would be poor.
Revere them or fear them I care not a jot
But remember them all the whole blessed lot,
For our mind is host for those we care most
Of those wonderful yesterday's ghosts.

When you spoke of grampa's pipe in your poem I smiled. I can still smell the strong home grown tobacco from my grandma's pipe. Thanks for sharing.
God bless,
