Are You a Witch, Woman?

A witch is a healer. Not a psychic, or a person who attempts to manipulate all things within her realm with selfish concentrations of her energy.

Are You a Witch, Woman?

Always different

Answers came for odd questions

Solutions for problems

No one could formulate into words

Illness and injury a healing art for me

Life, death, birth and in between.

Those not able to seek help elsewhere

Bring it all to me

Human and animal

Inside and out

Life and death

I find it is within my realm of knowledge to heal

I don’t know why I know. I just do.

I do not seek answers from stones or cards

I use the herbs of mother earth

And hard experience and knowledge from books

Thirty two births. New life, I have caught, welcoming to this world.

And thirty souls reaching death,  I have been with on the pathway out.

I ride the hard train of torment with those caught in the ‘in between’

Knowing they are not in, but not knowing the way out.

As a young woman, I was asked- “Are you a witch . . .”

I really do not know. I do not seek to be one. Some call me shaman.

I am really just a healer. Capable of bringing life. Capable of letting it go.

I understand the mechanics to heal the body with the offerings of the earth.

It is an awesome thing to hold life within one’s own hands.

It is an awesome sight to see life go.

To cradle the slick head of the newly born

And to close the eyes of those who have to go.

I am blessed.

I have been welcomed to many ultimate life transitions.

Embracing the newly born.

And stroking with love the ones to leave.

I really wasn't claiming to be anything. I am a midwife and an herbal healer and assist in death. After 30 years it really is not a big deal.

Thank you for sharing of your "self" Blue. I am respectfully in awe of your gifts. Love and peace to you,

Witch, healer, shaman, mystic, there are so many words that one can find to place thought on the realistic description of one who is in tune with life, the one who can touch upon Nature and find the energy from within the depths of the Earth and the Universe, this is a nice work of thought through poetry to express and bring forth this subject of mystery. Nicely written display....
