A tulip’s soft whisper

And the shiver of a cool spring rain

You lay in a field

Collecting dew and raindrops

With your fingers, clawlike

Digging into the earth

Trying to root yourself

Your head is flowing with stardust

And your eyes, black

Are drops of crude oil

What have you done to become

This drowned creature

Pale and Blue

Hair like seaweed

While the rain

Dissolves your body.

Wow! The imagery serves to enhance the meaning of these verses so strongly that they will not be denied a reading and another... ...and another. Thank you for sharing this offering, Carrie. Love and peace to you. Regis
