I appreciate that my Mom told me these words but at the time I thought I was deprived and my friends were privilaged, Now I know they were deprived and I was privilaged to have someone supportive instilling the power to be assertive and not go with the flow. Boys will put you on a pedestal.... only to look up your skirt!
Sex is a wonderful thing but it is worthless if you just give it away. I'm saving this poem for when I have a daughter and when my God Daughters reach "The age"

Sandie, I wish that someone had said such words to me. Instilled a sense of myself, my worth before I fell head over heals for the first time. Thoughtful words that all young women should hear in.
Such a powerful expression of love and caring; and imbued with wisdom. It would be good for all young girls to read this (and everyone else too, for that matter because there is such truth expressed). Thank you for this, Sandie. Love and peace to you.

I have, however, the most beautiful four and half year old niece - and everyday I pray she will always remain into the beautiful flower that she is today. I have friends who have daughters and they constantly worry about the peer pressure and the luring tools that are used these days. Most of all HIV/AIDS. This is to all the mothers out there with daughters.

It was hard in the age of "free love", and I can imagine in this age when sex is a marketing tool how very hard it must be for young women. My, my. In today's world this is especially a wonderful thing to read. It seems that there has been a complete and drastic change in the way humans are supposed to act. There is no mystery anymore. No allure. Only pure, raw sex. No respect. Sodom and Ghoromorrah is upon us.
"You lack nothing You connect the heavens to the earth You body is the temple Your heart is the key A flower is always a flower" - a most tender and wonderful word of counsel and encouragement from a mother to a beloved daughter at a sensitive stage in her life and personal development. And I love the sincerity and honesty in this that speaks of a deep and lasting bond - not only of mother/daughterhood, but also of friendship. A reflection of a truly wonderful and trusting relationship. You have no idea how much this touches me, having taken my first-born and precious daughter off to University today... my nest is suddenly short of one little body! (Actually, a very beautiful body of which I am very jealous!! :)) LOL and thank you for this - especially for me tonight! Sob, sob... Kate xx

Sandie, sounds more like a mother's (or father's) lament that is universal to the generations. You caught all the drama, emotion, and anguish perfectly. Every girl should read this before she is 13.
