a poem like this is exceedingly difficult to interpret. on the one hand, it seems to be an exercise in semantics and sound, of word similiarity and aural resonance, while on the other hand, the underlying message is one of dissonance, cognitive and otherwise, perhaps discernment of the line between the psychic/psychological and the natural/physical. whatever the case may be, the imagery is strking and echoes in the mind.
The violence here has me intrigued. And why the "flames of shame, the desire of fire." Must we be trained to feel the passion? Thanks for the mystery, Maria.
