Black cat but more than that
means more to me than not being fat.
So much love from a dark smudge of fur
makes me happy when I hear him purr.
Then comes blue eyes with fuzzy mane and tail.
Such a little trickster, makes his mother wail.
All so sweet and innocent, to himself he's true .
Would he get away with much if his eyes were not so blue?
Here she is, the Queen of the lot,
A personality like that can never be bought.
She's seen the real world, been out on those streets,
There's been many a mile crossed under those feet.
Our little Queen brought gifts a plenty,
She had only three, thank God it wasn't twenty,
One so small, the size of a rabbit
and whatever flies by, she'll be the one to grab it.
The middle child, all pretty and proud,
one would never expect a voice that's so loud.
The last to join us, a sweet giant boy,
scared of his shadow but oh, what a joy.
When the days are hard and the nights get long,
I surrender myself to the tones of their songs.
They soothe me, they love me, treat me with care,
Such a love like theirs, in humans, is rare.
