When I was ten
I had a teacher
who kept a typewriter in our class
on the high shelf
I would look at it way up high
on a safe perch
and dream of using it
one day she took it down
just to show me
and I fell in love
it was then that I knew
words were my destiny
I knew
on a machine such as this
I could lay down
the words that constantly
spun in my heart
I shared this revelation
and she said that I could do anything
I'm just beginning
to believe
and realize
the reawakening
of the dream
of the typewriter
on the high shelf

I like this it reminds me of discovering that I was also drawn to words and writing. Keep writing and never put that typwriter back up on that high shelf
