Clouds...a piece inspired by Lew...

Clouds

By

h. lena jones

Way above our heads

White fluffy globs sail gently across

A sky-blue canvas

Ever changing, ever drifting

Forming shapes

White against blue

Or sometimes

Variegated gray

If it’s a dull day

For mere seconds

They hold their pose

Before drifting back

Into fat fluffy globs

Only to break out again into other shapes

Such are the majestic clouds

Which make such pretty pictures way up high

For all to see and admire!

Some folks are train watchers

Some folks enjoy watching planes take flight

Some are even bird watchers

But watching clouds pulls at my heartstrings

Perhaps it’s because of their magnificence

Their graceful movement, like a ballerina’s

Perhaps it’s because of their endless shaping

Of angels and assorted animals

Once I saw a huge polar bear!

On a flight between Houlgin and Varadero, Cuba

Once we broke through thick cloud cover

I was awestruck at what I saw

I couldn’t take my eyes away from the window

The clouds between the thick barrier below

And the blue sky high above

Had formed themselves into an array

Of giant cloud pillars

Of various shapes and sizes

Golden light from the fading sun

Illuminated the perimeter of each pillar

The pillars were arranged in a way that formed alleyways

Reminding me of alleyways in a city of tall buildings

My heart danced, I was looking at the original

Candy-floss city set in a background of blue

What an amazing privilege!

I pressed closer to the window

Looking for shapes I could recognize

Then I saw friendly poodle clouds

And there just beyond them

Was the Thinker statue

Not bronze, but fluffy white

And perfectly formed

Oh, and there was the

Michelin Tire man

And birds, and swans...

There were other pretty shapes

I could not readily identify

Never before had I seen such

A magnificent cloud display

I thanked God for His brilliance

For when He created our world

He thought of everything

There is so much beauty

Around us, if we but care

To take the time to look

And appreciate!

I was sorry when we landed

In Varadero, to pick up

Other Toronto-bound

Passengers!

“The heavens declare the glory of God;

and the firmament sheweth His handiwork.”

(Psalm 19:1)

Oh Lena, another trait we have in common.....cloud watching!

As a child, I was captivated, the first time I heard the Psalm where good King David declares the clouds, as the dust from His feet! Not only that, I believed it - and still do!

Thank you for this elevating poetry, Lena...you are, the lovely Ballerina...dancing across the sky!

Blessings&Much love, Rhonda

Reminds me of Hamlet teasing about clouds. Fine poem. I love clouds so long as they are white and fluffy. It's the dark ones that makes me fear, though of course we need them too. Victor

Beautiful, beautiful write, my friend. I am a skywatcher, and take pics of clouds...our loving Creator sure paints a beatiful sky! Our clouds are darkening to the West as a cold front approaches...praise God for relief!

My Frst Friend,
You took my challenge and you challenged me. Those clouds are hypnotic. They can call you into a beautiful world where nothing can upset your peace of mind. This was beautiful!
God Bless you,
Lew

There truly is, and you've reminded me of many hours I used to spend on airplanes, marveling at those clouds!

A delightful word painting describing one of the most ethereal, compelling, and ever evolving mysteries in creation - clouds. Resolved nicely with scripture to the ONE who created all the natural wonders in this life. HIS handi-work indeed!

Well done Lena ...

Karma Bank to Following By Listening by Chiemi

These song lyrics and art are tales, tides and twinkling lights - tunes telling stories of warmth and sun, city and sand, paths that lead, and the coins we can keep in the Karma Bank. Spirit's been bypassed for sorrow, dreaming of a better tomorrow .
