The writer's plight-----------------------------------------------------


I Will Never Read God's Lips

 

I will never read God's lips.

Much less translate it

on the page.

 

And no. I am not saved.

 

For no matter

how long I wrestle

how long I fight

I will never get it

quite  right.

 

And the words that

come with lofting, beauty

in my sleep

are in the end

only for my dreams

to keep.
